Banarasi Saris

Banarasi sari is one of the Indian traditional saris. These saris are manufactured in Banaras, Bihar. This sari gets the name from its manufactured location. There are different and exclusive varieties in Banarasi saris.

They are Jangla, Tanchoi, Vaskat, Cutwork, Tishu, and Butidar. Banarasi saris are known for their silk work, and depending upon the work the price varies. “Hiranya Vastra” is the name given to this sari during ancient period.

It is believed that during this period, women mostly wore them. During Mughal period around 14th century, these saris were available in elegant designs and unique work, and mostly were woven using gold and silver threads.

Banarasi saris are available in different colors, designs, patterns, weights, ranges depending on the threads used and work done.

Banarasi sari looks very beautiful when worn for the occasions like marriages, birthday parties, and wedding anniversary. Banarasi sari can be given as gift to relatives and friends.

Do's

  1. Wash with cold water.
  2. Wash the pallu and border separately in the beginning.
  3. Use medium iron, the color will never fade.
  4. After two or three plain water wash, use good soap clean quickly.

Don'ts

  1. Wash with soap in the beginning.
  2. Brush the sari.
  3. Bundle and keep wet for a long time.
  4. Stone beat the sari.
