Cotton Salwar Kameez

The desert women first wore the Salwar to cover the legs being burnt from heat. Coarse cotton is used to make it. Moreover, there is no artistic value in it.

Moguls’ period saw the evolution of Salwar. Lavish spending and dressing symbolized higher social status.

The Aryans brought salwar kameez attire into India, when they invaded. The Aryans established themselves in Punjab.

Furthermore, this salwar was adopted as a traditional dress by the locals. Punjab popularized the Salwar’s concept later on.

Salwar did not make much bang on fashion. Salwar was worn during traditional or cultural activities like festivals or marriages.

Salwar was given new birth by the designers of India, Pakistan and Asians settled at Britain.

They reinvented it so that the garment gains reliability and impresses the fashion world. In the recent times, designers have given reverence to the cotton salwars by checking out new dimensions of it. This was the difference between recent & olden times’ designers. It looks as though all the designers want to try something new with Salwar.

By tradition, the cotton salwars were grouped with kurthas of various lengths. The salwar of knee length was the season’s length. Now, you can find it being worn with long shirts also, which is normally seen in the ramp-walks.

A good cotton salwar should not be stiff and uncomfortable; it should show the sleek figure of the wearer. It should be graceful to the wearer, which shows the work of good tailor.

The comfort feature in salwar has made it popular and retained its popularity and therefore, it moved from its traditional sphere to a fashion sphere. Even though people do not consider it as recently launched attire, salwar has its own attraction as it is distinctly feminine.

You can get cotton salwars in all varied colors, ranging from dark ones to light colors.

Recent cotton salwars are famous for their patchwork and women of all ages enjoy wearing embroidered salwars decorated with sequins work, bead work and kundan work.
