Dyed Salwar Kameez

Salwar kameez is the traditional dress worn by girls and women all over India.

Salwar means trousers and kameez means long tops.  Nowadays salwar kameez is called as churidar.

These salwar kameez comes with various designs and handmade works.

Usually, when wearing a salwar kameez the dupatta is worn around the head and neck, or just over the shoulders covering the front upper portion of the body.

The traditional salwar kameez has gone through many changes according to the prevailing trend.

Dyed salwar kameez, the ones with embroidery work, salwar kameez with chikan work, salwar kameez made of nylon, cotton, and so on are different varieties available. Dyed salwar kameez is made by dyeing the plain salwar kameez material.

Different dyes are used to get different colors and designs. Mostly cotton salwar absorbs the dye quickly than other materials. Sometimes, dyeing is also done on nylon ones also; however, different types of dyes are used for both.

They are rapid fast dyes, indigo sol and pigment dyes for cotton dyes. When rapid fast dyes are used on the cotton salwar kameez printing will be little more complicated as the dyes may get mixed.

The standard colors used for dyeing are red, orange, brown, and mustard. Final color will be established only after fabric is processed with acid wash.

When the salwar kameez is dipped in the indigo sol dyes, it glows in the beautiful green and pink color. The pigment color is widely popular because of its simple preparation.

On mixing two or three colors, the salwar kameez evolves a new shade and looks very beautiful with its designs. The colors can be tested before printing by merely applying it onto the fabrics.

Cotton salwar kameez after pigment printing are dried out in the sun. They are rolled in the newspapers to prevent the dye from sticking to the other part and steamed in the boiler.

After steaming, the material is washed thoroughly in the large quantities of water and dried in the sun. After that the dyed salwar kameez is pressed, so that the particular color remains fixed permanently.
