Handloom Cotton Sarees

Handloom cotton sarees from the word depicts that these sarees are woven by hand only.

These sarees are of great demand from richer to poorer mainly used for daily usage especially in summer season as sweat is the main problem.

It requires a tremendous amount of maintenance because these sarees, when used more lose their luster and quality without proper care.

These handloom cotton sarees have to be laundered and starched. One can use the starch that is prepared at home or bought outside. Most of the people living in villages prepare their own starch at home.

Unstarched cotton has looseness and unattractive limpness along the surface. This makes ironing a sari, a compulsory event, whether one likes it or not. Moreover, it is a laborious process which might sometimes be expensive for common man, as not everyone can afford a laundry service.

The preparation of cotton warp involves seven steps. They are
1) Winding of yarn in Natei                    
2) Sizing 
3) Bobbin              
4) Warping in warping drum   
5) Denting
6) Beaming
7) Healed work & denting

As per the design, processing is done. The cloth is tied and dipped in dye so that the dye solution can penetrate only in the united portions without affecting the tied portions.

Then, dyeing is resisted repeatedly as per need of shads of the required design. This brings out number of colors on the same thread at different portions. Sarees sizes are of approximately 47 inches by 217 inches.

With complex, extra, weft design, the costly cotton is produced with finer cotton yarns. These cotton sari designs are dominated by geometric pattern and small floral patterns, and its specialty is that it is woven by expert weavers.

They have light, solid, cross border with variety of shades of different colors with contrast colors.

Sometimes, the designs are made with contrast color to give extra looking in body, border and cross border.

Nowadays handloom printed cotton sarees have a demand due to various designs such as flowers, strips, leaves, climbers, attractive birds and Hindu goddess used in the sarees and are attractive like silk sarees.

Handloom cotton industry is booming and has wide market. Manufacturing, supplying of handloom cotton, and exporting to other countries show the growth of Textile Industry.
