Handloom Silk Sarees

Handloom Silk sarees are woven with hand. Pochampalli, Kanchipuram, Dharmavaram, Aarani, and so on are the best examples for the handloom silk sarees.

These silk sarees are available in six, seven, and nine yards, in which six yards saree is of normal length of any other saree.

The seven and nine yards sarees are worn normally by the Hindus during the festivals, pujas, and marriages, while six yards silk saree is worn by any community that wears sarees. These sarees are available in different range of prices, colors, weights, and designs.

The border and pallu of these silk sarees display a wonderful work of artisans depicting either the mythological stories, or the natural sceneries or leaves or creepers or any other designs.

These saris are available in almost all the big saree outlets. These saree varieties evolved before many centuries.

The handloom silk sarees should be maintained properly, or the woven threads or the zaris in the borders would be damaged.

To maintain the longevity of these handloom silk sarees, one should not wear them daily. Also, one can wash these silk sarees after tying them twice or thrice, or if worn only once, these can be washed after a year.

Moreover, there are certain tips on washing these sarees. One should not wash these sarees in hot or warm water.

The borders and the pallus of these silk saris should be washed separately. Even the length of the saree should be washed separately. Usage of high powered detergents, soaps, and hand brushes should be avoided while washing these sarees.

The silk sarees should not be bundled and kept after soaking in water. Exposure to sunlight or keeping in dark places should be avoided.

Too much of exposure to sunlight while drying would cause damage to the quality and color of these sarees. Moreover, one should press it at medium heat to maintain the texture of the sari.
